I do believe you are correct that while we have false teachers....we have many more misguided ones who lead the sheep astray into valleys they should not enter. May God give us grace to hear with spiritual ears and see with our eyes focussed on Christ!

Blessings my dear friend! If you think about it, almost all of Paul's letters -- maybe with the exception of Romans, make at least reference to false teachers. I'm studying Galatians now and it's amazing to hear this man's heart pound with jealousy for the sheep! You are right -- there is nothing new under the sun. It was a problem then and it is a problem now. Thankfully, I don't think we've encountered so many false teachers as we have misguided ones. At any rate, may God help us discern between good and evil and may His Word be our guide --- rightly interpreted and applied. Thanks as always for all the work you do writing these beautiful devotions. They do my soul good and I am always blessed! Again ... wish you were closer! I rejoice with you and Louis that you have a pastor who teaches the whole counsel of God's Word. May the Lord help us all have discerning hearts that we may be true to the Bible daily as our foundation and guide. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and your experience. May God protect and bless our churches from false influences of any sort.A View From Serenity Acreshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06904451773945069866noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7991384778852051720.post-7170446809108618882012-10-10T09:25:38.102-04:002012-10-10T09:25:38.102-04:00Excellent thoughts, Barbara. Louis did the right thing and met with this pastor personally on several occasions to discuss our concerns and eventually this pastor told us not to let the door hit us on the way out. The saddest part was that about a year later, this pastor did something that deeply wounded the whole church. I'm so grateful to have a husband who is daily in the Word and discerning. He's even told our current pastors that the only reason we would leave the church where we are currently members is if they cease to preach the Word.

Currently our pastor is teaching on true biblical faith and pointing out the false beliefs about God {the name-it-claim-it, prosperity, health and wealth "gospel"} that come from not knowing the Word and lead to a fragile faith. Some people have left the church for that reason - because they'd rather hear the false teachings that "tickle their ears."
